Best Options Copy Trading: What to Look For (2026)
~5 min readAlertsify Team
Quick answer: The “best” options copy trading setup is the one that proves fills at a real broker, sizes to your account, lets you cap risk before an order leaves, and shows you two bills up front — software and the trader. Alertsify is built that way. This page is the checklist. Use it on any product, including ours.
Generic “best copy trading” lists are usually forex social apps. Options are a different job. You need a contract match, whole-contract sizing, and a record you can audit — not a cropped screenshot.
Below is what actually matters. Alertsify is the brand that meets this list today: $600M+ executed, 10 brokers including Robinhood, Whop 4.8 / 232, 3,335 traders.

1. Broker verification — not screenshots
Ask: where does the public P&L come from?
Look for
- Stats calculated from connected brokerage fills
- Losses that stay on the tape
- No “delete this trade” on a public profile
- A duration / verified badge that answers how long the account has been live — not a vanity star
Walk away from
- Cropped Discord P&L
- “Trust me” rooms with no blotter
- Leaderboards you cannot tie to a fill
On Alertsify, every public number is calculated from that trader’s connected brokerage fills. The broker is the source of truth.
2. Proportional sizing — their lots are not yours
A 40-lot fill on their tape is not a 40-lot order in a one-lot account. One options contract is 100 shares of exposure. Size has to be whole contracts scaled to you.
Look for
- You set dollars, percent, or contracts
- Copies scale to your buying power
- A replay that prices their closed tape at your size
Walk away from
- “Copy their exact size” with no cap
- Products that only show their dollar P&L
Alertsify’s My P&L replays closed fills at your size and rules. It can come out negative — what you would have held. Find your fit ranks the board the same way.
3. Risk caps before the order leaves
Options move. 0DTE dies at the close. You need skips, not surprises.
Look for
- Daily profit and loss caps
- Max risk per trade and max open exposure
- 0DTE block or custom 0DTE sizing
- Liquidity floors (OI, volume, spread width)
- Slippage / fill protection
- Per-trader pause and a global freeze
- Visible skips when a rule fails
Alertsify ships 14 controls in one panel, plus per-trader stocks / calls / puts off. If a rule fails, the copy is skipped. You see the skip.
4. Execution at the broker you already use
If the product asks you to open a second broker just to copy, that is a move request — not a feature.
Look for
- Full trade at major U.S. brokers
- Robinhood on the execution list if that is where you trade
- OAuth — no password form the app owns
- No custody, no withdrawal
Alertsify executes at 10 brokers: Robinhood, Charles Schwab, E*TRADE, Webull US, Webull CA, Alpaca, tastytrade, Wealthsimple, Moomoo, TD Ameritrade. Funds stay at your broker. Confirm on the connect screen.
5. Approve vs auto — you choose the mode
Not everyone wants hands-free on day one.
Look for
- A plan where every follow alert is approve or deny
- A plan where copies can fire on the lead’s fill
- Optional tap-to-confirm per trader
- Solo use without following anyone
On Alertsify: Lite ($99/mo) is your own book; follow is optional and always tap. Pro ($249/mo or $1,997/yr) can auto-execute. Free is view-only. Most Lite users never follow anyone.
6. Two bills — say them out loud
Software is one bill. The trader is another. Products that hide the second price until after you subscribe are selling fog.
Look for
- Software price on the page
- Trader price shown before you follow
- No mystery per-contract platform fee
- Clear cancel path
Alertsify: Free / Lite / Pro for software. Most leads charge; some are free. You see that price before you follow. STC, cancels, rejects, and expired orders are free on every Alertsify tier. Broker commissions are still your broker’s. Checkout is Whop. Cancel there.
7. Custody and legal shape
Look for
- Never holds funds
- Not claiming to be your adviser
- Plain risk language
- Past performance is not a promise
Alertsify is software. It is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or fiduciary. Your broker holds the regulated account. You make the trading decisions.

FAQ
What makes options copy trading different from stock copy trading?
You must match strike, expiry, and call or put — not just a ticker. Size is whole contracts. Expiry and assignment matter. Spreads are multi-leg.
Is broker-verified the same as “will be profitable”?
No. Verified means the fill happened at a broker and the stat is calculated from that record. It does not mean next month will look the same.
Should I pick the trader with the highest P&L?
Usually not. Run Find your fit at your size. Their 40-lot book and your 1-lot book are different products.
Do I need a second brokerage account?
Not with Alertsify if your broker is on the full-trade list of ten — including Robinhood. Confirm on the connect screen.
Past performance does not guarantee future results. All trading involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Options can expire worthless. Options trading is not suitable for all investors. Users are solely responsible for their own trading decisions. Alertsify is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, or fiduciary.
